Life is a ride!!

In July 2022, I got the idea to buy a bike, Till then I was looking at people differently who ride bikes on the highways. Basically, I'm lazy and prefer to be more comfortable while travelling and look for more safety.

I expressed my interest to my wife and friends. No one encourages me with my desire. They know about me very well and the comfort I look for. They explicitly say why you waste your hard-earned money. In fact, one of my friends took more photos when I trial the gears which I bought myself. He said I'm not sure whether you wear these again. So at least we take photos and keep them with us. That much confidence for him in me.

I've another bike pulsar 150cc which my father bought for me in 2005. I still keep the bike with me. But I'm not using it actively. In the last 10 years, it's very less. All I do is service the bike once in a year and keep it in the garage.

I booked a bike in a week time after doing very little analysis. I looked at Benelli and BMW and decided to go with GS 310. Since it's a pure experiment. I feel it's ok to go with the entry-level segment this time. I prefer adventure bikes and 310 is good for tall people like me.

They delivered my bike in Dec after 3 - 4 months time. I went on my first ride to my hometown to complete the registration. 125 KMs non-stop to go on time. While returning also I've not stopped anywhere in the middle. I feel a little uncomfortable taking a break. I usually don't take more breaks when driving cars.

I went on a proper ride along with a couple of my friends on 26th Jan (Republic day ride) to the nearby hill station. It was a fantastic experience.

I'll be happy and satisfied and would escape from my wife and friend If I would be able to complete 12 rides this year 2023. One per month. That's the target. Let's see how it goes!!

Happy riding!! :)

Secret to a Long and Happy Life!!

Ikigai - (Passion) A unique talent that gives meaning to your days and drives you to share the best of yourself with the very end.

This is my first attempt at reviewing books. In fact, I read a book today after a long time (years). We all must agree that our reading habits are reduced drastically in recent years, particularly reading through physical books.

Two of them got the idea of writing about the longevity of the people a part of japan. Mainly how to find an Ikigai the purpose of life and so many other factors that all lead to living a long and happy life.

They talk about stress control, diet, how to keep ourselves active and the importance of it. Also, the flow of how much we engage and more productive when we do the work which we really like to do etc.,

They shared some of the life lessons of people who lives more than 100 years.

All the examples quoted in all different topics are top-notch.

They conclude with the following points that are important for a long and happy life.

  • Stay active; Don't retire
  • Take it slow
  • Don't fill your stomach
  • Surround yourself with good friends
  • Get in shape for your next birthday
  • Smile
  • Reconnect with nature
  • Give thanks
  • Live in the moment
  • Follow your Ikigai

After reading a book I started finding my Ikigai. But I somehow feel that making an impact on people would be mine.
